Suggested Edits to Captions [2023]

Doesn’t seem to be the case, Chris. I had a suggested edit rejected and received a congratulatory ding ding, and the vote is showing in neutral tone (ie, not green) in my vote hover-over.

Personally, I have no problems being notified of rejections, but maybe the ding ding could be replaced with a wah wah

Thanks James. Looks like I’ll need to tweak the system to avoid notifications for “neutral” votes. I’ll get this sorted

Hi Chris. Caption author accepted my suggested edit to change ‘dog’s’ to ‘dogs’ but the edit does not show on the photos page (the caption’s currently in the lead).

Hi @Dot_Old - I will look into this possible lag in the update, but it appears the photo is now showing correctly, for me, at least?

Ah, you’ve just reminded me - this is a bug we’ve seen before, and it’s on the todo list for me to fix:

Me too! I swear it only changed within the last few minutes! Sorry to have troubled you.

Maybe the same glitch that got pointed out a while back, where homepage leading captions needed a refresh trigger (like a vote) before being updated with the Suggested edit.

Edit: Nevermind, Chris, I see you’re already on it

@James_Lennox the opt-in/out toggle you asked for in #9 is live. Under Preferences on your own profile there’s a new “Let other captioneers suggest edits to my captions” tick box (on by default). Untick it and the Suggest Edit button disappears from your captions for everyone; the site also refuses any suggestion that arrives regardless. Tick it again and the button comes back. Nothing changes for anyone who leaves it alone.
