Been thinking about a new feature that could address many of the suggestions in this forum:
The ability of visitors to tag captions with “lol”, “dupe”, “clever”, “pun”, “topical” etc.
It would work as follows - a list of available tags would be shown beside the Captions page, and could be clicked and dragged onto a caption to apply the tag. Certain tags e.g. “lol”, “clever” could only be applied a certain number of times per week (because we want to identify only the best captions in these categories). Applying the “dupe” caption would alert the offending captioneer automatically and give them the option to edit or remove. If a certain number of “dupe” tags are applied to a caption it could be automatically deleted (and all votes on it cancelled). The “pun” and “topical” links could lead to sub competitions: “pun of the week”, “today’s topical captions” etc
What do you reckon?
By the way, I’m currently working on the automatic duplicate caption detection feature, which presents a warning to captioneers if they try to submit a caption similar to an existing one.
