I see my caption for the Monkey/CD picture is showing as best (or at least it is for me), but Crunchy’s should have that honour.
I’ve noticed the second place caption showing up as top caption on the photo homepage a few times lately (before the Captioneers have been identified), so I’m assuming this isn’t an isolated glitch.
I’d be interested to know what would cause it as I would have thought the ranking code would be fairly simple and bulletproof.
I have a suspicion it’s related to the length of the caption …
When I upgraded the database software recently I noticed there were issues saving long captions and comments into certain database columns. I think that’s probably what happened here. I’ll get it fixed when I’m back home.

I’ve now fixed the underlying issue, which was related to the database upgrade and the length of the caption, as I suspected.
