@Taskmasters — this is what I plan to build tomorrow morning. Say now if you’d rather I didn’t.
What it does: at the moment a new topic in the forum’s Contributors category never lights up the Discuss badge on caption.me, because the site only counts topics everyone can see. After this change, cash contributors will see the badge tick up for a new Contributors topic just as everyone does for a public one — so the monthly vote announcement, and posts like @James_Lennox’s, stop going unnoticed.
Where: the Discuss badge in the caption.me header, and only for people who are currently cash contributors.
What won’t change: nobody else sees anything new — non-contributors get no badge and no hint that a topic exists. No forum text is shown on caption.me, just the count. Nothing about voting, hidden votes or tie-break points from that same thread — those are separate ideas and not part of this.
Asked for by @James_Lennox in Contributors Forum (15 Aug 2025); @Chris_Beach said he’d add it to the list. It is on the To-Do List with 2 votes.
I’ll start at about 04:00 UK time tomorrow (Saturday) unless there’s a “no go” below, or a question here I haven’t answered. A “wait” vote holds it.
