Next task: a Dave Awards section on the Scores page

@Taskmasters — this is what I plan to build tomorrow morning. Say now if you’d rather I didn’t.

What it does: the Scores page gets a Dave Awards section beside Prize Winners: each year’s Daves, most recent year first, with the trophy, the award name (Best Finder, LOL, Creative, Clever, Quality, The One That Got Away, Caption of the Year…) and who won it. It reads the awards that already sit on each winner’s profile under Achievements, so nothing is re-decided or re-counted — it just puts them somewhere everyone can see them.

Where: the Scores page only.

What won’t change: no scoring, prize, quota or voting change; the monthly Prize Winners table stays as it is; profile pages are untouched. One thing to check with @Chris_Beach: I’ll treat every hand-given achievement as a Dave (everything except the automated Decimator badge) — if any other kind of achievement has been handed out, say so here and I’ll filter by name instead.

Asked for by @Troompa_Loompa in The Dave Awards [2023] (26 Feb 2024): “Feels like something that should be more prominent and the Scores page should show the winners.” It is on the To-Do List with 2 votes.

I’ll start at about 04:00 UK time tomorrow (Friday) unless there’s a “no go” below, or a question here I haven’t answered. A “wait” vote holds it.

Fine with this, but it’s going to be a fair bit of info, and relatively static info at that. Maybe Finders should be moved up above Prize Winners, given that it’s a more dynamic category and likely to be viewed more often.

The ‘Scores’ page would certainly be busier. Instead, perhaps there could be a prominent link to a separate page for Dave awards (and Tina awards?). I’ve already forgotten how Dave awards are decided so it may help if the above is displayed above the awards too.

I think it’s enough to have Daves and Tinas on a captioneers own page.

Yeah, I’m kind of with Steve and Dot, but was trying to be diplomatic. I’m not sure there’s any need to have the Daves on the main Scores page.

Thanks @Stephen_Bean, @James_Lennox, @Dot_Old and @Al_Overy — that’s a fair point, so I’m not building this one. It goes back to the To-Do List for @Chris_Beach to decide on. I’ll announce a different task tomorrow.
