I used one of my comments in Discuss, and about ten minutes later, someone used the same idea in their “caption entry” of the same photo. Is this a Nod, or does the copying of ideas, only count in the photo captioning?
I know the captioneer probably never looked in discuss, as the captioning was still going on, but, I posted the idea first, so would it be a NOD?
Most people don’t read comments, and certainly wouldn’t check the comments for duplicate captions before posting their own caption.
So, in this case you cannot expect them to add a nod to your comment.
I’m disappointed that, rather than waiting for a response to your question on the forum, you misused the “suggested edits” feature to ask the caption author for a nod to your comment, and you’ve clearly antagnoised the author.
As an aside, when suggesting an edit, you should write a new version of the caption, rather than a message to the caption author. This is shown in the instructions when you use the feature, but perhaps it’s not clear enough.

I apologize… I wasn’t sure if the Comment section used Nods, also, like the Captions, or not. I thought I had seen Nods used on both… but I could be mistaken.
(I never really liked using Nods, anyway… I just thought that was what we were supposed to do - from when I would post and read FAQ s etc.)
In the future, I will not use Nods - if there is a duplicate… I will just leave it.
I have noticed recently, a few times where there is an exact same caption repeated, with both receiving votes - so I guess it really doesn’t matter, anyways.
I did post on the Forum, to check first, though… but you are right… I should have waited, until someone responded. I wasn’t thinking. I thought it would
just show a suggested edit sign out front, and the author could then click in and see that I was checking on the Nod. I did tell them that I wasn’t sure if it was a Nod… I was just checking. I wasn’t thinking that it would be posted in Discuss.
I will apologize to the author… (I had already given him a vote for his caption,
in the case, that it wasn’t a Nod.) and I apologize to you for not using the
suggested edits, properly.
